Love Live Movie! Kotori Minami Cheesecake Scones – sunrise

Almost everyone that knows me can testify to how much I love Kotori so as soon as I saw that she was getting her own candy treat I had to buy it!

Kotori Minami – Love Live Movie, Cheesecake Flavour Scones

This is a great example of how well Japan does packaging. Instead of a plain box it is fashioned into the perfect gift (o-miyage) or just something cute to buy yourself.

The box is in the shape of a bag and has two burgandy ribbon handles.

The first side shows us lots of data and necessary information, not much to say here so lets move on…

Along with the barcode the other side has an adorable picture of all of the Love Live! girls huddled around a cheesecake…. but is that all  that this picture is? Lets continue for now!

The back of the box is the same as the front so I’ve moved straight onto the contents.

Inside there are 7 individually wrapped packets, the scones themselves are around 2 inches long and 1 inch wide (so they are only about a mouthful each.

The colour is mottled and natural from baking rather than being one tone all the way across which is really nice! (*~▽~)

Wait! Before trying this yummy looking goodie there is something else inside the box!

Turns out that the picture on the side was also explaining that inside there is a photo-paper printed picture inside. Its of a surprisingly high quality and is about 4 inches long. Although I don’t know quite yet what I’m going to do with it yet its a lovely addition to the treat.

Thats everything from the box now so time to try the scones.

For a pre-packaged item they are surprisingly soft and fresh to the touch, they don’t really smell of anything but neither do cheese cakes usually so this didn’t put me off at all.

When I bit into the scone it was so soft and easy to get through, its a little flakey and tastes devine, the cheese cake flavour is definitely there. Its like a really subtle yet creamy taste of new york cheesecake.

The taste lingers in your mouth after eating and considering its only a bite I think these would be great to use to clear your palette after a meal.

I got these when I saw them for sale on AmiAmi, I’ve linked them below but they appear to be sold out though. It might be worth keeping an eye on the link as I frequently pick items up from them when they re-stock.

Original cost to me – 710jpy

Now the box doesn’t advise on calorie information but I’m sure that I read somewhere that they were 39calories per scone.

Taste rating – 10/10

(I want enough of these to eat one everyday!)

Strawberry Cheesecake KitKat – Nestle

Its been a while since the last KitKat review so here we go!

Strawberry Cheesecake KitKat

The strawberry cheesecake KitKat’s are available in the Yokohama prefecture. There are some cheesecake ones which are supposed to go in the oven and melt a little, I’m not 100% sure these are the ones but I have others which I know are definitely suitable for the oven so I’ll do those at another time.

The box itself is quite large and is for presentation – its quite mature packaging and is the kind of thing you would buy as a gift.

The back is pretty plain and continues its sophisticated theme – the writing is in a lovely font and its in very simple toner colours.

I had to rush these out because I noticed the best before date (òロó)

(I did this review whilst they were in date – just – but I forgot to post it in time)

IMG_8572

With the lid opens it reveals lots of individually wrapped goodness – 12 individual bars to be precise!

I really like how the big boxes are divided in half and that the inside is also decorates to continue the theme.

IMG_8614

A quick look at the individual packs – each one has the calorie count which is a nice touch and on the back there is an area where you can write a message.

These are great for taking to work for handing out with a positive message when your colleagues are having bad days. ♪

IMG_8620

This time round the KitKat’s themselves are plain looking, a milky cream colour with a cream wafer biscuit inside.

I was a little disappointed with these – the chocolate tastes a little flowery and fragrant but not really of strawberry. More a very sweet plain chocolate. The wafer tastes a little of strawberry but again more fragrant and plain – Altogether its a little bit of a disappointment.

I bought these when I was in Japan earlier in the year.

I found them on eBay if anyone is interested – http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEW-Nestle-Kit-Kat-mini-from-Japan-Free-Shipping-apple-raisen-azuki-west-east-/252190934660?var=&hash=item3ab7c04684:m:mrMBYnFgcnXxgq6L7YrELNg

Original cost to me – approx 500yen for the box

64 calories per individual pack

Taste rating – 4/10

(Great idea – poor follow through)
